Maple Leaf Rag Scott Joplin UPDATED PIANO SHEET MUSIC PDF, VIDEO PLAYALONG, MIDI, MP3, and GUITAR PRO FILE
Advanced, Note for Note piano transcription. Based on an alleged piano roll recording of Scott Joplin playing the piece himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMAtL7n_-rc
This differs from the official sheet music in that the syncopations include far more grace notes, there are more bassline walkups and flourishes, the melody line is a little different, the right hand includes multiple octave jumps, some chord voicings are different, and there is a notable dotted sixteenth rhythm feel (this is included in the performance notes, and this particular arrangement can be sightread with no swing if the reader prefers).
Here is how it is usually played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rad6UvoGHV8
Here is how Joplin (allegedly) played it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMAtL7n_-rc
Different, right?
I truly believe the piano roll recording is Joplin, because it sounds more connected to the piano players who came after him in that area of the country, and also because whoever is performing that piece is playing it like they wrote it themself. It’s remarkably cohesive and expressive. Going on that gut feeling, I re-transcribed Maple Leaf Rag for piano, using that performance as my reference.
This package contains the pdf sheet music, the mp3 to match it, video playalong tutorials of the sheet music at 100%, 70%, 50%, and 25% speeds, the MIDI file, and the uncompressed GuitarPro file (GuitarPro will transcribe standard notation for piano). SAMPLE: https://youtu.be/n9_hLDko8A0
If there are any errors found and corrected after you purchase, I will send you the updated version at no extra charge.
